One of the best value Chardonnays coming out of WA, Prelude's 2016 vintage combines elegant fruit flavour with good complexity. The nose opens with fresh lemon and lime before notes of cardomom, almond and cashew make their way to the fore. The palate has great drive, with gorgeous nutty flavours and fresh citrus continuing to intertwine. Pure and clean, the acid structure provides good energy that will undoubtedly hold this wine in good stead for a few years to come.
Awards and Accolades
2015 Vintage: Special Value Wine, 95 Points - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "If you didn't know about its Art Series sibling, you would be perfectly happy to accept this as a high class part of the Leeuwin Estate portfolio (which in a sense it is). A beautifully balanced wine, both in terms of its suite of stone fruit, citrus and pear flavours, and of the subtle barrel ferment oak inputs. Its length is no less impressive."
From the Winery
Cool crushed fruit with some skin contact. The juice was settled for 3 days, racked, and underwent fermentation both with inoculated yeast and naturally. 100% of the juice was barrel fermented in French Coopered Barriques, with 40% being new and the lees stirred regularly. After 9 months in barrels, individual parcels were blended, fined, cold stabilised and bottled.
