  Lindemans Regional Series Chardonnay 2013

Lindemans Regional Series Chardonnay.gif

What's better than a Hunter Valley or an Adelaide Hills Chardonnay? A Chardonnay made from the best fruit from BOTH Adelaide Hills AND the Hunter! Lindemans always have the finger on the pulse when it comes to innovative and exciting wine techniques and have turned the outdated European DOC on its head, blending regions to bring into harmony the best of both worlds!

Made from the hand of the highly regarded Brett Sharpe the Charddy stands lean and bright in the glass- a golden hue is warmed in the middle by a rather rich straw. The nose is pristine and met with clipped flavours of green melon, stone fruits, citrus and with a chalky, spicy edge. Continuing their mission to modernise the old, the mouth on this marries traditional Chardonnay creaminess with more approachable fruit driven characters. Apricot is fresh, but it has been paired with a dollop of cream; granny smith apple crunch is present, yet it has a brioche, apple crumple feel to it. It's clean, modern, has good intensity, and is in every way a remarkable presentation of just where winemaking in this country is headed. Onward and Upwards so they say!

Campbell Mattinson: 92
Yarra Valley/Adelaide Hills blend. The best of the new Regional Series wines. Fresh and zippy with just enough complexity. Peach, citrus, brown bread and red apple notes. Daring dart of acidity but it has balancing weight of flavour. Drink by 2015.

From the Winery:
The Hunter Valley remains the backbone of Lindemans and the Hunter Valley Bin Range has a reputation for producing styles that are attractive on release, with the structure to improve with time in the cellar.

Lindemans winemaker Matthew Johnson is now at the helm and is enjoying the chance to make the Bin Range like the classics from the 1960s and '70s, when industry legend Karl Stockhausen was the winery manager and is still a consultant at Lindemans today.

Lindeman’s Hunter Valley Chardonnay delivers the lovely crisp, refreshing acidity that the region is renowned for, balanced by complex citrus flavours.
