2013 Vintage had the warmth & sun to be a great vintage for producing lush fruit that goes a long way to making a beautiful rich Chardonnay that lasts in the mouth for simply ages.
I want a Chardonnay that packs a pristine punch, deep and soulful white peach and spice with delicate but combined oak to satisfy my requirements. Rich and racy this gem, from our good friends at McPherson's Wine Company is exactly that and more. This cancelled export order would normally have cost double the dollar you are going to pay!
Get in fast I say as there is not much left already.
Food Recommendations: A rich, full bodied Chardonnay that is best enjoyed with foods such as roast chicken, rich seafood or roasted duck. This wine is a great all-rounder and will compliment most styles of cuisine.
Reviews
James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "Some colour development early in its life; pleasing, ripe stone fruit flavours may or may not have had some oak influence. Either way, an honest yeoman, ready nor or soon."
About the region
This region has long, warm, sunny days and mild evening temperatures which are perfect for the growing of good quality Chardonnay. The grapes were harvested during the cool of the night to maintain fruit freshness and then gently pressed to minimise phenolic characters. Juice was settled cold and after racking, inoculated with natural yeast to further enhance varietal character.
The summer of 2012 / 2013 was hot and dry - the hot weather ripening grapes out of the 2013 vintage early and the dry spell allowing the sugars to develop fully. Balancing sugar and acid was tricky this year, however the vintage ended with a bang with great flavour ripeness being achieved at the last minute.
