FIVE STAR Winery: "Best in Padthaway" - James Halliday
James Halliday 95 Points.
There are times when this job is too easy. Those moments being when I get a bloody ripper of a wine like this to put into the store. This is only the second Chardonnay to be released by the Bryson family from Morambro Creek, but it appears they've entered the field swinging. Delicate yeast and a subtle spice aroma compliment concentrated citrus and white peaches. Having been through maloactic fermentation, and extended lees contact in French oak, the flavour is clean and refreshing, the peach and citrus carrying through here balanced with a mineral undertone and a very clean finish.
James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion: 95 Individual parcels fermented, some with wild yeast, then taken through mlf and extended lees contact before 12 months in new and used French oak. A well-balanced wine, reflecting the careful vinification, stone fruit, grapefruit and fig all to be found working synergistically with nutty/creamy mlf influences
