Flavours of citrus and stone fruit are supported by a creamy mid-palate softness. Oak plays a background role while the finish is crisp and fresh. Produced from 100% Yarra Valley fruit - the grapes were crushed, racked and then gently pressed prior to fermentation. A portion of the juice was then transferred to seasoned French oak for fermentation & maturation. The balance remained in tank to preserve the primary fruit characters.
Accolades and Awards:
Huon Hooke (2012): Full, developed, yellow colour with some brassy reflections. Pencil wood and smoked almond aromas, also roast hazelnut development. The palate is very soft and rounded, seemingly low in acid, with a fast-fading finish. A forward and rather tired wine.
James Halliday: 92 (2010) Bright, light straw-green; an attractive example of Yarra Valley chardonnay, with a long, elegant palate picking up nectarine, white peach and grapefruit flavours, and a subliminal touch of cashew from the subtle oak influence.
