This Chardonnay comes from Yabby Lake’s Red Claw range and was bottled after spending ten months on yeast lees. A hint of vanillin oak on the nose of this Mornington Peninsula beauty, gives way to stonefruit, citrus and a touch of praline. Bright grapefruit and white peach mingle with vanillin oak, grilled cashew and chalk, and citrussy acidity.
Awards and Accolades
2015 Vintage: Special Value Wine, 94 Points - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "Hand-picked, crushed/pressed, wild-fermented in French puncheons, no mlf, matured on lees for 8 months. I suppose you have to see this as an entry point wine, for that's what it is. But many producers would be happy to have a wine of this quality and style as their icon wine because of its energy and drive, this achieved without any tricks used of (say) 40% new oak."
2015 Vintage: 91 Points - Campbell Mattinson, Wine Front "The fruit seemed a little tropical and pineapple-like at first but it settled down as it breathed, the fruit turning more towards grapefruit, the slings of woodspice both more evident and attractive, the flashes of pear and custard apple a welcome finishing touch. This is good drinking. Fresh, flavoursome-enough, crisp and textural at once."
