From Saltram wines comes this lively style of Chardonnay, which elegantly balances up-front fruit flavour with a touch of oaky spice and weight. This is softly textured and approachable with flavours of stonefruit, melon and some green apple hints. This is just screaming out to be enjoyed alongside a whole range of lighter dishes. Why not put together a picnic, grab a bottle and hope that the Spring weather isn't that far away!
The 1859 range of wines celebrate the year of Saltram's establishment in the Barossa by founder William Salter.

From the Winery
Above average rainfall during winter and early spring set the vines up for a good season. There were some intermittent cold bursts early, which resulted in frost damage through parts of the Barossa. On the whole, conditions were warm and dry, until mid-February when there was significant rainfall followed by cooler temperatures. These cooler temperatures slowed down the ripening process of the grapes, and resulted in good quality fruit being harvested.
In 1859, William Salter and his son, Edward, founded the firm W. Salter & Son and the 1859 wines celebrate the pioneering work of our founders, whilst paying respect to the traditions of Saltram. Created in a contemporary style, this Chardonnay is harvested in the bright citrus spectrum with some parcels displaying notes of fresh stone fruits.
