Racked directly to barrel after whole bunch pressing, this extraordinary wine is the best of Tarrawarra Chardonnay. Made without the addition of yeast or acid, the fruit batches from each block are kept entirely separate in barrel over the 10 months in oak. It is crossflow filtered without fining before bottling at the Estate.
This is a fine wine of subtle complexity displaying a fig and white peach fragrance. It has the length that is the hallmark of a Tarrawarra Chardonnay.
Awards and Accolades
95 Points - James Halliday, Wine Companion "Sourced from the older BandG Blocks, planted in '83, this is a rich, flavourful chardonnay despite its modest alcohol. Built solidly around a mid-palate of creamy, lees-driven nougat notes and vanilla pod oak supports, the aromas are all truffled corn, popcorn and funk. A stone fruit-inflected mineral tang reveals itself, bosomed beneath the billowy creaminess. A generous wine packed with flavour, but far from fat. The acidity is cool climate of breed, punchy and highly effective at tucking the hefty engine into a sleek bonnet."
