Yering Station Chardonnay has had a stellar reputation in the past and continues to shine the torch for modern Yarra Chardonnay. We love this style as it’s a clear indicator of where we are heading with new wave Chardonnay. It delivers citrus and cashew freshness with a rounded mineral note before a defined middle palate makes way for sharp acids that lend real length and persistence. Crisp, mouth filling and incredible length provide balance which will be rewarded with time.
Accolades and Awards:
92 Points - Campbell Mattinson, Wine Front "Exhibit A. It’s the positive archetype of modern Australian chardonnay. It’s at-ease with complex struck match notes; it’s run with pear, meal and stonefruit flavour; it shows toasty, spicy oak but not too much; there’s a grapefruit-like bitterness, void of shame or self-consciousness; its freshness makes for a mouthwatering style. It’s classy and elegant but mostly it’s delicious."
2014 Vintage: 95 Points - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "Hand and machine-harvested from Valley Floor and higher vineyards, half cultured yeast, half wild-fermented in French puncheons (20% new), 4 months lees stirring, 10 months in barrel. As might be expected, attests to the quality of the vintage first and foremost. This is a first class illustration of the inherent strength of high quality Yarra chardonnay, fruit, acidity and oak all singing from the same page."
