The Beblenheim Winery was created in 1952 by a number of winegrowers who decided to pool their expertise in order to work more effectively. Two years later, together, they obtained their first gold medal. Today, after five decades of constant progress, the Beblenheim Winery has climbed to sixth place among the wine-producers of Alsace, and brings together 150 winegrowers, who cultivate vines in Beblenheim and its neighbouring villages.
In Alsace, unlike the other wine-producing areas of France, the names of the wines come not from the terroir or area where the grapes are grown, but from the varieties of grape themselves. The wines must be bottled in the area of production, always in the characteristic slender bottles.
