The Goulburn knows how to produce a good Rhone variety! They have some of the oldest cloned vines throughout the world in their little pocket of the earth and boy can they produce wines that give the Old World a run for their money!
This has your typical Marsanne nose, soft Jasmine, elderflower, over ripe peach and a slight herbaceous end note. Palate is expansive and lively with rich nectarine and talc-finish is dry with a firm acidity. Open it up when you plan on eating something with a good dose of cream- like a carbonara, the soft acids will cut straight through the lush cream! Delicious.
Awards and Accolades
2014 Vintage: 92 Points - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front "More value to be tucked into here. It’s an excellent white wine. Textural, flavoursome and persistent. It has a bit of interest about it too. It tastes of lemon curd and honesuckle, stonefruit and spice, but distinguishing the individual flavours does nothing to convey the charm and flow and feel of it as it rolls through your mouth. No hesitation. It’s good."
2013 Vintage: 93 Points - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "The day that Mitchelton chopped up the barrels in which it used to murder marsanne was a great day in the annals of this variety. Here honeysuckle and toast flavours float on an understorey of crisp acidity, and the future is laid out by the knowledge of the flavours marsanne develops a 5-10 years of age."
