A true Gris style, a bright and plumpy straw with musky pink hues. Made in a fuller, fleshier style this would be a perfect accompaniment to a spicy Asian dish. Aromas of juicy ripe pear, red apple and spicy poached apricots drift from the glass, whilst the palate is more medium-bodied and quite rich, with spiced pear flavours, friendly acidity, and a fresh, juicy finish. I'm a big fan of this.
Accolades and Awards:
2013 Vintage: 90 Points - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "Bright, pale pink; Mount Langi Ghiran was one of the early movers in Vic with pinot gris, and its experience shows through with this crisp pear, lychee and lemon-flavoured wine; the finish is crisp and crunchy. Great value."
From the Winery
Mount Langi Ghiran is a pioneer of cool climate winemaking in Australia, and was one of the first wineries to plant Pinot Gris in the early 90’s. Billi Billi was an Aboriginal King who lived near the Langi property, and owned much of the surrounding land. The creek running through the property was named after King Billi Billi. This wine is created in his honour, and reflects the heritage of the region. Wholly sourced from the Langi Estate vineyard, these Pinot Gris grapes were harvested on the 26th February to capture its flavour profile and optimum acid structure. The result is a wine that shows great varietal characters, bold texture coupled with a fine acid structure.
