"Mitchell has really stepped up to the plate of contemporary taste over recent years, making poised Rieslings with less shrill acidity than in the past; greater depth and poise and yet, still with the tensile line of limey flavour and febrility that has always marked the region and the house style. Attesting to these changes is the six months of lees handling, following an ambient fermentation. The result is a light to mid-weighted wine, strutting across the palate with flavours of citrus rind, quince, green apple, curd and a finish dusted with pumice and driven by a pungent mineral crunch."

Mitchell Winery was established in 1975 by Jane and Andrew Mitchell. The entire range of Mitchell Wines receives multiple accolades every year. Highlights have been the Penguin Wine of the Year in 2003, a consistent 5 star rating in James Halliday's Wine Companion and inclusion in the Financial Times Top 20 Wines of the World and regular Top 100 listings all endorse the Mitchell's choice of region and variety and is reward for their long-term commitment to their wines and the region of the Clare Valley, South Australia.

That is why we cultivate our vineyards organically. The story of Watervale is one well worth telling with classic, intense citrus aromas and dry tangy flavours that come alive in the mouth. Our Watervale Riesling is a refreshing wine of poise and balance with lees contact to soften the wine. It finds enough roundness in the mouth to balance a pleasingly mineral and classically crisp, dry finish.
