Brilliant, pale straw with green tinges in the glass, this wine is immediately appealing. The bouquet is pungent, piercing and linear, combining intense cut grass slate and citric aromas. The vibrant palate is mouth-filling, with an attractive blend of grassy, mineral, citrus and white peach flavours. The delicious middle palate flavours lead into a long and particularly fine acid finish. It will be very enjoyable over the next 5 years but has the potential to cellar for several more years after that. Enjoy with crustacean and fish dishes, and mild Asian food.
57% Sauvignon Blanc, 38% Semillon and 5% Verdelho.
Awards and Accolades
95 Points, Special Value Wine - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "57% sauvignon blanc, 38% semillon, 5% verdelho, 12% fermented and matured in oak (45% new). As ever, fresh, lively and highly expressive, fruit doing all the talking; all sorts of citrus on the bouquet and palate, with lemongrass, gooseberry and precisely judged acidity."
From the Winery
We were happy to have the 2016 harvest. It followed three vintages of tiny yields which left us with very little wine to sell! The vintage had average yields and the rain that fell in January 80mm, and then February 15mm, and March 10 mm, had no effect at all on the fruit quality. The resultant wines have a wonderful aromatic quality and elegance, particularly in Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc.
