Bright, very pale straw colour with slight green hues, near colourless on rim. This has a very densely concentrated nose with interwoven layers of green stonefruits, citrus, herbs and flinty lees complexities that open in volume. Dry to taste and medium bodied, concentrated and well-packed flavours of herbs, stonefruits, citrus and minerals show with lovely richness, energy and tension.
The fruit forms a fine, dry, textural line with lively underlying acidity and the flavours are tightly bound and flow with great drive. The flavours reveal layers of interest and detail and carry through to a very firm, long and sustained, dry finish with herbs and mineral nuances.
Accolades and Awards:
93 Points - James Suckling "Pungent passion fruit and fragrant melon, Tahitian lime citrus, this really takes sauvignon to another place for Marlborough, exposing the edgy, exciting and minerally possibilities whilst embracing the rampant intensity of fruit. Great acid, mouth-watering from front to back. Drink now."
18.5/20 - Raymond Chan "Brilliant, very pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, lighter on the rim. The nose is very fresh with intense, penetrating aromas of gooseberries, greengages and green stonefruits, entwined with dark herbs, unfolding white and yellow floral notes and subtle, complexing mineral elements. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate possesses sweet and luscious flavours of gooseberries, nectarines and green stonefruits with fresh herbs and suggestions of thirst-quenching minerals. The mouthfeel is brisk with crisp acidity, and the palate flows along a soft and very fine-textured line with excellent underlying energy and vitality. The wine carries to an elegant, lingering finish of stonefruits, gooseberries and herbs. This is an elegant and intensely concentrated luscious green stonefruited Sauvignon Blanc with a brisk palate and soft, fine-textured linearity. Match with seafood and Pacific Rim fare over the next 2 years. Hand-picked fruit from estate vineyards, WBP and partially indigenous yeast fermented to 12.5% alc. and 3.8 g/L RS, the wine aged 2-3 months in tank.
2015 Vintage: 95 Points - Mike Bennie, The Wine Front "It's hard to fault this release. You could put this in an encyclopaedia filed under Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. It's quintessential in herbal whiffs, passionfruit and citrus fruitiness and talc-like mineral sweetness in perfume too. It's pure, racy, driven and then shows some juiciness in the mouth to woo you further. Young, fresh, feeling, zesty, flinty again, with fine chalky fringes then squeaky acidity to close. Drinkability is so high. I'm not mad, or having a weird day, this is just one of the best examples of its ilk."
