Brilliant in aspect, pale gold in colour with green highlights with intense complexity on the nose. The first nose is floral and opens up to notes of ripe, jammy fruit with a hint of orange peel. A subtle touch of vanilla and liquorice complete the bouquet.
On the palate, the wine is round at first opening up to rich, unctuous sensations that fill the mouth. The finish is heightened by a touch of nervosity. Its flavours linger on the palate with notes of forest undergrowth, ripe lemon and mint.
Pouilly-Fumé is made from Sauvignon Blanc grapes grown in siliceous clay and clay-limestone soils. It is the blend of wines from these two different origins that gives Pouilly-Fumé all of its intensity and aromatic richness. Flint adds a smoky touch of gunflint while clay lends floral notes and brings out the wine’s richness on the palate.
