Tahbilk received a number of plaudits early on with their Estate Viognier releases including being nominated by Australian Vignerons magazine as producing one of the 'Benchmark' Australian Viogniers.
They've come even further with the varietal since then, both in terms of more mature vines and familiarity in the winemaking process, and the benchmarking bar is now certainly higher.
This wine has delightful citrus blossom and orange peel aromas with freshly squeezed lemon juice, apricot and white peach undertones. There is a lively, zesty, crisp acid line on the palate and the finish is clean and refreshing.
An outstanding example of the Estate style.
Awards and Accolades
2014 Vintage: 93 Points - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "Tahbilk, an early mover (in the '90s) and quiet achiever, has racked up 3 trophies, 15 gold medals and 80 silver and bronze meals with the variety, and this vintage shows why. It has more apricot and peach varietal expression, without attendant phenolics, than any other producer except the unchallenged queen of the variety, Yalumba's Louisa Rose. Drink soonish while it keeps its bloom."
