Did I hear someone say, 97 POINTS! Thats right, from James Halliday no less though I'm going to give it a tidy 98, and rightfully so. This is one of those wines that relies on taking a complex array of flavours, and seducing (for want of a better word) your tastebuds. The aroma is a mix of freshly mown grass, spicy and vanillin oak, and a hint of tropical fruit. The taste is deep and rich, with vibrant fruit lifted by lighter mineral flavours. Halliday put it well when he pointed out that the flavours are so wonderful and all encompassing, it's almost too easy to forget it will improve with age and just drink it all now.

"What an absolutely stunning wine. Creamy and fruity at the same time. Think cashew with pineapple, some citrus fruit and pear all in the same glass, balanced perfectly. At different stages the flavours were more apparent than others creating a kaleidoscope of perfection ever so slightly changing from sip to sip. I'll be buying plenty of this for the warmer weather to take out to my favourite Vietnamese and Thai restaurants. Wow!" Mat

James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion: 97
A 71/29% blend, wild yeast-fermented, with no acid additions; 87% of the wine was matured for 5 months in French barriques (62% new). Follows in a long and proud tradition of exceptionally complex wines that rely on gentle persuasion, not brute force or, if you prefer, seduction rather than rape. The flavours are so attractive and mouthfilling now, it is easy to forget the wine will mature with grace for well over a decade.
