Vivid purple with a violet hue in the glass the nose an elegant, lifted nose of bramble and raspberry with subtle hints of violets, clove and cedar. Succulent mulberry and red currant fruit harmonise with velvety chocolate, mocha and sweet vanillin nuances. Underlying smoked bacon, mint and earthy characters add ethereal complexity and create a lingering nish of soft raspberry liquorice tannins.
Awards and Accolades
2014 Vintage: 93 Points - James Halliday, Wine Companion "Mainstream traditional McLaren Vale style, full to the brim with warm, verging on jammy, purple fruits. Would come into its own on a cold winter's night with a large piece of steak cooked over the coals of the fire."
2013 Vintage: ☆☆☆☆☆ - Winestate Magazine "Best Wines of 2015" "Superb sweet perfumed black fruit bouquet - delicate and fresh. Palate is jam - packed with soft ripe flavours and has a lovely mouthfilling texture. A very classy number."
From the Winery:
The McLaren Vale is well known for reds and needs no introduction on that front, probably doesn't even need to be enlightened as an area that generally produces big and gutsy ones. Rockbare comes from McLaren Vale and delivers exactly that. As the wine maker Tim Burvell puts it "If you're after a light red, then RockBare Shiraz is not for you. This is an old school, hang on to your hats, powerful gutsy McLaren Vale Shiraz. So, if you're looking for a juicy red to drink with a meal, or even the 'next red after dinner', then I think you'll like this one."
