A multi award winning Chardonnay from the stellar 2007 Adelaide Hills vintage!
Trophy – Best Australian Chardonnay International Wine Challenge 2010. Gold – International Wine Challenge 2010.
Delightful light straw with gold hues and bursting with rockmelon, pineapple and light tropical notes, replete with toasty oak characters. Excellent winemaking skills honed a fermentation with 100% wild yeast which has produced a palate full, rich and creamy with fresh tropical and melon flavours balanced by seamlessly integrated oak leading to a clean and crisp finish.
Maturation: 10-12 months in 30% new, 30% one year old and 40% two year old French oak hogsheads.
This winery really does have a tradition now with a range of Varietals but are dedicated to bringing you cool climate wines with a strong regional edge, Step Rd delivers contemporary wines with unique varietal character, persistence and finesse. I trust you will enjoy this wine with great friends.
Staff Tasting: A real treat to have this arrive for tasting on a sticky hot day in the middle of Christmas madness. It came with big raps, having taken out a few gongs at recent wine shows, so anticipation was high. And it didn't disappoint. A lovely wine on the nose, with honey, coconut, pineapple and a touch of cinnamon. The palate was a treat too - a stone fruit melange with hints of banana, gardenia flowers, pineapple and melon. This is a definite step up (so to speak) from the 2006 and easily worth the asking price. Now, back to those Christmas orders…
