The 2010 vintage from NZ, and more specifically the Marlborough region has whipped the wine world into a frenzy! Widely regarded as the quintessential expression of the acclaimed Marlborough wine region, This wine I have produced, is a magnificent Sauvignon Blanc and as good as any international benchmark wine. Noted for its vibrant aromatics, layers of pure fruit flavours, and fine structure.
The nose excites the senses with a melange of sweet passionfruit and tomato with a subtle hint of strawberry. The palate is excellent, captivating and intense, reminding you of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc as it should be - with heaps of passionfruit, capsicum spice and juicy green apple and some feral tones.
The 2010 has produced a Sauvignon Blanc of vibrant intensity. The characteristically uplifting aromas of ripe lime and grapefruit, nectarine, papaya and mango and floral notes of orange blossom, gooseberry and sweet fennel are striking. A small portion of barrel ferment and subtle use of solids in fermentation has resulted in a chalky and weighty texture balanced by a minerally-citrus acid backbone. The wine has elegant line and length; refined, fleshy yet focussed and refreshing.
The Marlborough region is blessed with a unique terroir where a cool, maritime South Pacific climate produces wines of great fruit intensity. Meticulous viticulture combined with modern technology and traditional vinification methods, consistently produces a style that has become the reference for this remote southern wine region.
