Toolangi Yarra Valley Shiraz 2007 |

|
A standout 5 star winery from the Yarra Valley showcasing a feast of 4 eminent winemakers talents & fastidious skills to produce exzcelent quality wines and at these prices you will be blown away.
This is superb Shiraz from a perfect vintage with a huge earthy, briary nose that settles quickly given some air and allows you to contemplate your navel whilst you review the perfect colour and legs of a great wine ready for drinking. Gorgeously seductive mid palate allows you to revel in the skills that make this wine such a treat, with lovely tannins and texture.
Aged in French oak barriques for 12 months, the flavours are coming through brilliantly and will continue to age gracefully.
It shows typical cool climate Shiraz characters, beautiful cassis and spicy pepper with a hint of savoury, meaty characters. Complex spicy pepper and seamless oak integration leaves you with the enjoyment from start to finish and might I say a very smart buy indeed.
Do not expect an unbalanced, huge clunky wine with globs of sweet, tannic fruit as this is a wine of today made for your enjoyment now and in a more Old world style of finesse and grandeur!
"Garry and Julie Hounsell acquired their property in the Dixons Creek subregion of the Yarra Valley, adjoining the Toolangi State Forest, in 1995. The primary accent is on pinot noir and chardonnay, accounting for all but 2.8 ha, which is predominantly shiraz and a little viognier. Winemaking is by Yering Station, Giaconda and Shadowfax, as impressive a trio of winemakers as one could wish for. James Halliday WC 2011"
