Water Wheel Shiraz Blend 2007 |
| |
|
|
The 2007 Memsie red is a vivid ruby colour. The nose exhibits black currant and raspberry aromas. On the palate there are rich, dark berry flavours highlighted by some savoury spice with aniseed characters and smooth chalky tannins.
The wine is balanced and has generous length complimented by a lingering finish. Best drinking between 2009 - 2014. It is an ideal match for pasta, lean red meat dishes and cheese. Well, quite a few wine makers really hold great stock in this outfit for very obvious reasons! I cannot think of a better deal to deliver you this week and wholeheartedly agree with the below snippets from our esteemed wine writers, who as always are a guide to wise wine selection.
Just a small note to add: this wine is brilliant value and not to be missed!
Water Wheel is one of the quiet achievers of the Victorian wine scene. This bargain blend…is a seductive fruit bomb with toasty oak dressed across the top…one of the great value for money prospects in Victorian red. NICK STOCK. WBM 100. OCT 2008.
“…plums, berries, mint, eucalypt and even a hint of saffron spice – plenty going on here!” NICK STOCK. THE PENGUIN GOOD AUSTRALIAN WINE GUIDE 2010
