"Tartan-decked wine label; a sure conversation starter. Plenty of punchy fruit but dry and gravelly to finish. It’s a pretty easy wine to both admire and enjoy. Tropical fruit meets lemongrass, anise and assorted gravelly/smoky notes. The finish is taut in a juicy way. There’s very good drinking to be had here."

From the Winery

Sourced from lower-yielding vineyards on the hillside slopes for greater intensity and whole bunch pressed. Fermentation is in stainless steel tanks with minimal oxygen interaction to maximise fruit expression. Following fermentation the wine is aged in tank on lees for four months with malolactic fermentation avoided.

An excellent vintage in Marlborough with the joyous combination of outstanding fruit and large yields. Regular rainfall during spring set the vineyards up nicely with abundant canopies and well set bunches. Summer was warm and dry before a perfect Autumn with very cool nights that locked in fresh natural acidity.

Scottish for a “good get-together”, Hootenanny was created by two men with a love of New Zealand’s southern island and a respect for its strong Scottish heritage to bring some colour and excitement to Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Hootenanny is a simple formula done well, sourced from established vineyards in the right areas and made specifically for Hootenanny in a elegant, fresh style that celebrates the world famous Marlborough style.
