Bright crimson with purple hues at the rim. An elegant mix of mulberry, red currant and plum aromas with an alluring floral element. A round and plush wine with red currant, blackberry and cherry fruit flavours. Hints of mint, black olive and cedar add to the finely structured and balanced palate.
Awards and Accolades
93 Points - Mike Bennie, Wine Front "Coonawarra Cabernet mainlined. Gets you in the mood with its bouquet that offers cassis, gum leaf, faint mint, splintery cedary oak character. The palate is medium weight, concentrated and deep, riven with inky berry fruit character and black olive savouriness. Licks of oak and dusty tannins finish the wine. Lots to wrap your lips around."
From the Winery
Coonawarra has a very even and consistent climate. The long cool growing period (October to March) sees typically warm days and cool nights, which slow the vine growth and allow the grapes to develop true varietal character.
In the winery, the individual parcels of grapes were handled carefully to retain the intense fruit flavours developed in the vineyard. Partial barrel fermentation followed by 20 months maturation in French oak (30% new) has given the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon an elegant structure and a long finish on the palate.
