Rustic in nature, the nose led by savoury spice of cedar and clove, and underpinned by blackberry, plum, dark chocolate and violets. Elegant yet powerful, the palate offers flourishes of charred beets, anise and eucalypt giving brightness to the palate as a montage of rich, ripe tannins from both vineyard site and careful oak selection mingle to deliver a firm, persistent finish. A wine with purpose and direction that is sure to reward you medium term patience.

2013 Vintage

94 Points - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion
"Good colour; a reminder that the maritime climate of McLaren Vale has produced many good cabernets over the years; this has an autocratic, no compromise, medium to full-bodied palate with blackcurrant, black olive and earth unleavened by dark chocolate or cedary oak."

From the Winery

2014 was a challenging vintage, but it was very interesting to see the vines’ methodical reactions to make use of whatever was thrown at them. We were lucky with the timing of the heat and rain - the grapes were still early enough in their ripening cycle to not be hugely affected by the heat and then the rain in mid-February provided a well-earned reprieve.
