One of the established names of Coonawarra, Redman Cabernet Sauvignon is produced from hand pruned low yielding mature vines. Ripe blackcurrant fruit and vanillin oak make this fine drinking now
Cassis, cedar and violets flecked with mint and lighter red fruited notes. What sets it apart from the pack is its medium-bodied grace, some perfectly pitched oak, lazy length and wonderfully lithe textured tannin. No doughnut effect here, the mid-palate is supple and generous. Alcohol warmth is also notably absent. Should age very well indeed
Precisely the sort of Coonawarra Cabernet that results in rapturous discussions about the synergy between the variety and the region. It’s a wine of true elegance and composure.
Awards and Accolades
94 Points - James Halliday, Wine Companion "A pure, slightly austere, cabernet, with one foot in the past, one in the future, and a third in the present reflected by the consequences of poor flowering. The result an intense wine made from small berries and elevated tannins which, if nothing else, mean a long life."
2013 Vintagel: 93 Points - Campbell Mattinson, Wine Front "Power of fruit, strength of tannin. This is well put together. Cassis, mint, tobacco and chocolate. A whole lot to like. Will cellar well."
