A exquisite Pinot Noir, works beautifully on the nose and follows up on the palate. Scents of rich herbs, spices and a hint of vanilla upon the nose intrigues and gives this wine great appeal. Complex upon the palate with flavours of red berries, deep cherries, with hints of leather and liquorice. Beautifully finished with silky tannins and a delicate finish.
From the Winery
Our Pinot Noir is grown on our best soils in a part of the vineyard that has not been touched by gold mining. For almost 100 years fruit was grown here, peaches pears and apples originally and then Apricots at a later stage. It has been said that if you can grow Apricots then you can also grow great Pinot Noir and this has certainly been the case at Domain Road.
The fruit was hand harvested between the 10th and 20th April 2012. After de stemming and a period of cold soak in stainless tanks, the juice was inoculated with selected wine yeasts before fermentation. The wine has been aged for approximately 9 months in French oak barriques, of which 31% were new.
