Rich, fragrant aromas are dominated by cherry and dark berry fruits complemented by a touch of spice and underlying French oak. The long, silky palate has a lovely soft and velvety texture, with powerful flavours of dark fruits and a finely poised finish.
This is the value range out of the Yabby Lake brand. The house style tends to a more generous pinot, here with garden herbs wafting in the fragrance, sun-dried earth as well, followed by a mouthful of dark cherries finishing soft and plush.
Awards and Accolades
2015 Vintage: 94 Points - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "17yo vines, hand-picked, hand-sorted by bunch and berry, a mix of destemmed, whole berry and whole bunches in open fermenters, 7-10 days on skins, 10 months maturation in French oak (20% new). Excellent colour sets the scene for a wine loaded with pinot varietal fruit, but needing another year or so to open up fully, especially on the finish."
2015 Vintage: 91 Points - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front "You can buy this without hesitation. It’s a little warm perhaps but it’s varietal, fragrant, well turned out and just plain delicious. Sweet-sour cherries, woody spice notes, a tasty, tangy, firm-ish finish. Scracthes the pinot noir itch very nicely indeed."
