A vibrant and fragrant wine. Scents of black cherry, boysenberry and peppercorns. Upon the palate fullness in flavours of dark cherries but balanced with peppery spices. Perfect with matured and aged cheeses, game meats, grilled or smoked vegetables and rich pastas.
From The Winery
Hand-harvested and traditionally vinified in small, open-top fermenters. Aged for 10 months in large French oak vats and puncheons. Highly perfumed, vibrant and complex with black cherry, boysenberry, with hints of fresh peppercorns, charcuterie, dried herb and sarsaparilla. There's a lovely tension between the power and control of palate with fresh black cherry and a measure of peppery spice woven into a juicy silky texture and gently integrated dry, earthy tannins on the finish.
Reviews
"This bright crimson wine sheds its initial shaft of reduction with a twirl of the wrist, delivering tapenade, blue and black fruit flavours and a skein of peppery tannin melded to a rasp of briar, indicating the 20% of stems in the ferment. The oak is absorbed by the fruit; the finish taut, persistent and highly refreshing" 95 Points, Ned Goodwin - The Wine Companion
