Yering Station's Shiraz Viognier is crafted to techniques which are similar to those employed by the old world winemakers who developed this unique style. The art of Shiraz Viognier is a process the Yering Station team continue to enjoy and refine with each new vintage.
Co-fermentation of Viognier skins and Shiraz berries, picked to a similar time frame, the extraction of aromatics, colour and flavour profile, makes for a superb and edifying wine that has found a home away from home in the ideally suited, temperate climes of Yarra Valley.
Awards and Accolades
2013 Vintage: 95 Points - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "Bright hue; red cherries and spices play tip and run on the expressive and inviting bouquet; the palate texture a mix of silk and taffeta, the juicy gently spiced red fruit flavours a sheer delight. A first class now or later style"
From the Winery
COLOUR Dark Red NOSE Intoxicating mix of black berry fruit and Peruvian spices. Subtle yet intriguing lift of rose petal. PALATE Satsuma plum and dark cherry provide a fruit core. Savoury spice and french oak enhance the richness and complexity. The co-fermentation of Shiraz and Viognier give this cool climate Shiraz a lushness and plump centre. This supported by fine tannins and a velvet like finish provide drinkabiliy and longevity.
