Awards and Accolades
95 Points, Special Value Wine - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "Destemmed, 15% whole berry, open-fermented, 12 days on skins, matured in French oak (15% new) for 12 months. Gold medals Melbourne and National Wine Shows '16. Bright crimson-purple; a masterful play between luscious Langhorne Creek fruit and a spicy, savoury finish. The result is a medium-bodied shiraz that holds interest from the first sip to the finish and aftertaste of the last sip. It's a needle stuck in the groove to comment on the dizzying value for money."
2014 Vintage:
96 Points - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "De-stemmed to open fermenters, 15% whole berries, short cold soak, 9-12 days on skins, pressed to new (15%) and used French oak. Top gold National Wine Show '15, gold Adelaide Wine Show and Melbourne Wine Show Awards. THis is right in the heart of medium-bodied shiraz, black cherry, plum and blackberry fruits encased in a silken web of tannins, and a fleeting glimpse of French oak. Yes it's $20!"
TOP GOLD - The National Wine Show of Australia 2015 GOLD - Royal Adelaide Wine Show 2015, Royal Melbourne Wine Show 2015 SILVER - Royal Hobart Wine Show 2015, Rutherglen Wine Show 2015
From the Winery
Our Bremerview Shiraz pays homage to Frank Potts’ system of locks and weirs, constructed in the 1850’s and 60’s along the River Bremer, to capture winter floodwaters and irrigate vines. This long standing and robust system for controlling floodwater occasionally comes into use when rainfall is high and the river flows breach the established floodbank.
An expressive, medium to full bodied wine showing intense lifted dark berry fruits and spice. The palate is vibrant with dense blackberry and fresh plum flavours complemented by liquorice and pepper spice.
Bleasdale Vineyards is Langhorne Creek's founding winery and Australia's second oldest family-owned and operated winery, established in 1850 by English migrant Frank Potts, who arrived in South Australia on the Buffalo in 1836. The vineyards are situated on the flood plains of the Bremer river. Frank Potts left behind him a wonderful legacy that continues today. His sons and grandsons have operated and built up the winery, and Bleasdale is solely owned and operated by fourth- and fifth-generation members of the Potts family.
