STOP whatever you are doing and reach for the phone & credit card, as this big, 14.5% Alc/Vol bold beauty really slaps together amazing value from the fabulous regions of Adeliade Hills and the warmer ,richer Mclaren Vale from the wonderful 2007 vintage.
Immediately captivating, it has an inky dark red colour and intense ripe plums and cherries on the nose. There are hints of cedar wood and vanilla from new oak maturation which compliments the underlying savoury spice and roasted coffee character. The palate has robust fruit on entry, graduating to more earthy spices and finishing with a nice touch of licorice complexity. There’s a perfect level of tannic grip and balancing acidity. It’s great now with a well aged steak but will gracefully mature for another 10+ years. It has been thoughtfully bottled under screw cap so your investment is secure. I have to let you know, as the kids stop shouting and we start cooking dinner, this little raver has been my first choice all week!
