Here it is folks, just about the finest clean skin Shiraz I've been able to lay my hands on. It normally retails at more than double the price but, due to a stroke of luck I've secured all the stock and have it on offer as a clean skin for a ridiculously low price. This is definitely not a wine you want to miss out on, particularly if you appreciate good Shiraz.
Here's a bang for your buck shiraz that you can buy with gold coins found down the side of the couch! It is a deep full crimson red in the glass and almost grips to the side of the glass when you give it a good swirl. Smells of spicy plums and mocha float out of the glass, whilst the palate is soft, smooth ans sumptuous, with choc-coated berry flavours, soft tannins, and a juicy finish. It would be the bomb with tomatoey meat dishes.
The grapes for this Shiraz were picked and crushed in the cool or night, thus ensuring the retention of varietal character, while modern winemaking techniques were employed throughout, all of which help to create the signature McPherson style. Fermentation took place in sweeping arm red fermenters, giving the wine a denser, richer colour and allowing for gentle flavour extraction. Softer tannins are also a result of this process, an important feature of the McPherson Shiraz style. Careful attention was also paid to the oak selection for the Shiraz. The wine was aged on American Oak for approximately 8 months, giving the wine a noticeable, but not excessive oak influence. The inclusion of some Central Victorian fruit into the blend has boosted both the colour and intensity of flavour.
