A really impressive Shiraz from De Bortoli at a fantastic price. In the glass it's a deep shade of red with crimson hues. The delicious nose displays lush concentrated plum, red compote and blackberry aromas along with big spicy white pepper notes. The wine has been beautifully crafted, vanillin hints accompany dark fruit, rich dark chocolate and black pepper flavours through the palate. Some toasty oak notes and soft tannins curate a smooth, generous finish that will have you reaching for a second glass! Decant it and have with roast meats tonight, or whack it in the cellar for a couple of years and enjoy over the coming 4-5 years.
From the Winery
Warmer temperatures and consistent Winter–Spring rains made for an early budburst. We had half of it picked before the late January rains began and once dry, perfect conditions followed as the added soil moisture kept night time temperatures low allowing the fruit to retain its natural acid.
