Brooding in style, the Mail Coach Shiraz is a medium to full-bodied wine showing dense regional fruit and impeccable balance on the palate. High-end French oak contributes to a tasty and supple tannin-profile, and together with concentrated primary fruit, ensures further complexity and development in bottle.
Awards and Accolades
2014 Vintage: 94 Points - Campbell Mattinson, Wine Front "Warm, hearty and complete. This is an excellent release. Cloves, smoky oak, oodles of blackberried fruit, perhaps a lick of ironstone. Coffeed flavour, most likely from oak, is part of the tapestry. Tannin ripples from the mid-palate onwards. Essence of Heathcote shiraz."
From the Winery
Uniquely positioned in the main street of Heathcote, Heathcote Winery holds a surprise for many of its visitors. The Cellar Door and adjacent Art Gallery are situated in the main street of Heathcote, in a restored miners produce store built by Thomas Craven in 1854 to cater for the huge influx of gold miners seeking their fortune.
Our signature wine and consistent medal winner. Powerful, rich, spicy, yet elegant, Mail Coach Shiraz captures the essence of what makes Heathcote a world class Shiraz producing region.
We carefully hand select the fruit for this wine from both our vineyards and add a splash of our Viognier to enhance the aromatics. The wine is aged in predominantly French oak barrels for up to 16 months.
