Home to some of the country's biggest and baddest Shiraz, Heathcote is the go-to region for Shiraz-lovers the world over. This Hill Climb Shiraz speaks with an almost perfect clarity of the best the region has to showcase, purring along with dramatic notes of dark fruit, brambles, cracked pepper and star anise. The wine has been beautifully crafted and coats the length of the palate, does a U-turn and comes back to reignite the senses yet again, building intensity and layers of perfection. This Shiraz is full bodied with a robust tannin structure leaving a long, drying finish.
Most definitely a wine that will ignite serious debate about quality/ wine makers and cost whilst soothing the emotions because life's too short to argue? Grab a couple of dozen as quickly as you can, as always there is not a lot available and it will soon be just a memory. Decant it and have with roast meats tonight, or whack it in the cellar for a couple of years and enjoy over time.
Accolades and Awards:
James Halliday, The Australian Wine Companion – 95 points Wine Selectors Magazine, ‘This is an unbelievable Shiraz, especially given its modest price. It has an alluring nose of blood plum, blackberry, white pepper and cedar – leading to a delicious core of black fruit with a plummy juiciness. Fully ripe, velvety tannins married with subtle oak give it an amazing harmony and length.’
Voted into the Top 50 wines from Australian producers in 2015.

From the Winery
The grapes for this wine were sourced from two vineyards in the Heathcote Region near Colbinabbin. This is a classic Heathcote Shiraz, The colour is deep crimson with purple hues and densely packed with blackberries, leather, tar and briary aromas. The full-bodied palate is generous with plenty of sweet, ripe fruits, drying tannins and fine cleansing acidity to keep the palate fresh. This is a savoury style of wine that demands the attention of a rich slow braised meat dish or rare organic steak.
