It was not an intoxicated Scotsman who named this wine! Nooo Way Jimma! But I can say it is absolutely marvellous! I had last night with Inch thick Dry hung aged Rib eye and the outcome was superb. This wine is intoxicatingly complex, layered and rich Shiraz to die for! There is a story as to how this material from small and selected barrels got to the winemaker directly, but the telling is a secret. You do however get a real time, real value, off the back of the truck - absolute bargain.
Dark, opulent Shiraz is from hand picked single barrels and simply defies expectations. The winemakers here picked the best to make a very short run of premium wine that would be a giant slayer. The name does not fill me with marketing genius, BUT Boy Oh Boy, the wine does.
Generous brambly - dark cherry and cassis fruits with excellent fruit concentration, oak and lovely tannins that join with pepper and jazzy spice to offer a wine that drinks wonderfully at $36 a bottle. This is a keeper and will age terrifically over the next 6+ Years although the wine is from a fantastic vintage and has the stamina and layered complexity to go further with careful cellaring. So, grab a short stack of ribs, BBQ and a very special friend and let rip for a great ride.
Short stocks only available, so dig in quickly and at least get some for yourself.
Cheers!
