The dark inky blue wine sits in the glass awaiting further inspection. The aromas are all wild blue berries and violets with spice and hints of anise. The was to the palate is intense and with wonderful power as dense luscious brambly dark fruits, swirl with oak and a medium bodied tannin base sits behind the onslaught. A wine to be carefully considered, it sits well above its price point, however cellaring will be the interesting factor, as this may just go the golden mile!

2015 Vintage: 94 Points - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "Quite apart from semaphoring its region on the fragrant bouquet, its price is mouthwatering, as are the multi-flavours in the mouth. Cherry, plum and blackberry all have their say, but there's not much point in arguing the cause of one or the other, just relax and enjoy."

From the Winery
The Undercover Shiraz is named in recognition of McLaren Vale’s history of supplying other regions with our finest red grapes. Known as the mid palate of Australia, McLaren Vale fruit is well regarded for its ability to improve the quality and richness of wines from other regions.
The 2016 vintage was in general very mild with low rainfall. The lack of rain looked like it would result in a quick harvest, but a big downpour in early February made sure the vintage was more evenly spread out. The yields were up on the couple of previous years and the quality is looking great.
