Predominately Pinot Noir, the Ruinart "R" has between 20 and 25% of the previous two years reserve juice. The select grapes are handpicked and, of course, it undergoes full malolactic fermentation to unleash its vibrant soul in delicate ways. The juice is golden in the glass, very luminous and clear. The aromas take their time to open up, keeping you guessing as to what comes next. Florals are mixed with delicate fresh fruit of apple and apricots. Then comes the biscuity intensity to round of the engaging experience.
To the palate, where you will find a balanced and full bodied sparkling that seems to want to hit you from every angle. There are fresh fruits of nectarine and apple that come up ripe. The toasty yeast sneaks in to make an appearance with fine bubbles that persist to the finish, which is long and fresh.
