The combination of Margaret River and Chardonnay is almost always a success, but Flowstone have taken it to the next level with this Chardonnay, sourced from the South of the region. More retrained and subtle than many other MR Chardonnays, this is an elegant wine that shows strong promise for the next few years.
96 Points - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "From a single vineyard in Karridale, hand-picked, whole bunch-pressed, fermented in French oak (20% new), mlf, matured for in oak for 11 months, plus 30 months in bottle. Karridale is in the southernmost (coolest) part of the Margaret River, but the youth of this wine is nonetheless amazing - as it has been in prior vintages. No single fruit flavour dominates, nor is the oak particularly obvious, it's just a very good chardonnay."
From the Winery
Flowstone is the distillation of 30 years of winemaking of Stuart Pym, and the unbridled passion for great wine of Phil Giglia. Stuart started in the wine industry in 1983 when he moved to Margaret River to help his parents in their vineyard and winery in Willyabrup. 1983 was the keystone year when his parents started their own wine label Sussex Vale and moved to Margaret River full time. This vineyard has since become the well regarded Hayshed Hill.
