Bright Straw in colour with aromas of white peach, honeydew and cashew nuts. 2015's vintage of the Bard Chardonnay from Hollick is fresh and lively, with stonefruit flavours to the fore. Some toasty oak rounds out the wine to enjoyable finish.
From the Winery
The long mild growing season in Coonawarra provides the ideal climate for Chardonnay. The growing season saw a very cool start with regular rain until late December. An extended dry summer and autumn allowed for the development of some intense fruit flavours as the grapes ripened.
The grapes were picked at the coolest time of the day to protect the fruit, and it was harvested in two picks enabling the winemaking team to capture true varietal fl avours in the fruit. It was then crushed and pressed and allowed to cold stabilise in stainless steel tanks. Fermentation was conducted in stainless steel, and the wine was bottled early to retain its crisp varietal characters.
