Made from fruit sourced across Albany, Mount Barker and Frankland, this Chardonnay is bright and clear with a light lemon colour. Aromatics consist of raw cashew, fresh melon a touch of grapfruit. Mouth-filling yet delicately flavoured, light honeydew melon notes interact nicely with tropical fruit nuances. Fresh acidity aids the good length of the wine, which will drink well in the short term.
Awards and Accolades
2016 Vintage: 92 Points, Special Value Wine - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "It helps to have over 300ha of vineyards at your disposal, and decades of experience making wine. Yes, there's only a light serve of oak, but the fresh, juicy stone fruit and crisp acidity don't need elaboration. One of the best value and most reliable of all chardonnays on the market each year."
From the Winery
Our Cape to Cape wines are approachable, fruit driven wines made for enjoying now and over the short term. For the 2017 vintage, this Chardonnay was sourced from within the Great Southern in a season that was a cool and dry, so we have a finer, more delicate style of wine as a result.
After fermenting entirely in tank, the Chardonnay was briefly matured with French oak, producing a wine with delicious fresh fruit flavours and complexed by the light oak characters.
