A medley of quince, fig, honey, crème brulee and citrus marmalade with a refreshing acidity which offsets the richness and lusciousness to give a deftly balanced finish. Nutty oak adds to the tactile layers of this wine adding to the impressive length and style.
Awards and Accolades
2013 Vintage: 95 Points - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "Some colour deepening, but still bright; De Bortoli remains the best Australian producer of this style, but the world has moved on from the glory days when critics raved about the wine, eagerly awaiting each release. This is still a luscious and perfectly balanced wine. 500ml."
2013 Vintage: Rob Geddes, Australia Wine Vintages 2016 "Finesse within the powerful pure botrytis spectrum, Intense tropical mango, paw paw and apricot aromas. The palate is very rich and sweet, with candied long lusciousness. Low acidity and peaks of tropical and poached citrus fruits, after about 30 seconds. It draws to a close on the correct side of cloying."
From the Winery
The fruit for the 2014 Noble One was once again selected from the same vineyards that have a long and prodigious history of producing fine examples of Botrytis Semillon given the right weather conditions. With regular visits to the vineyard in the months leading up to the harvest, this allows us to closely track the degree of botrytis development and determine the perfect time to pick the fruit. The essence of flavours produced from each vineyard having their individual traits, we harvest, ferment and mature each parcel separately. Then we blend together these components to capture the exotic beauty of Noble One Botrytis Semillon.
Showers of rain in late February along with cooler temperatures following a hot dry summer instigated the onset of Botrytis across the vineyards. Regular showers of rain in the ensuing weeks allowed the botrytis to flourish with harvesting taking place over a couple of weeks during April.
