Named after the sweet, juicy pear variety, this Pinot Gris delivers a bundle of refined fruit flavour accompanied by soft textural structure.
Initial aromas of green pear, freshly-cut apple and pink grapefruit are restrained and elegant. An initial sip welcomes pear and grapefruit flavour dominance, but a second look displays some more wet stone flavour and highlights the mouthfeel, which is textural and nicely structured. The wine is well-balanced and finishes softly.
Awards and Accolades
2016 Vintage: 94 Points, Special Value Wine - James Halliday, Wine Companion "This has more flavour and attitude than most of its peers, and has a veritable rainbow of fruit flavours ranging well into tropical fruits, pink grapefruit helping corral the fruits with its acidity."
2014 Vintage: 92 Points - Gary Walsh, The Wine Front "Musk sticks, nectarine, pear, spice and that. Juicy flavour, well balanced and well delivered, almost smooth with a little almond in the mix, bright acidity, fresh faced yet flavoursome, with a spicy grapefruit tinged finish. Really good!"
