One of the Clare valley's iconic riesling producers, this displays all the qualities that has made the region synonymous with top drawer riesling.
Light straw in colour with pale green hues. The nose is driven by lively citrus; lime and lemon abound whilst faint hints of tropical fruit give way to mineral notes. Light in body, the palate is crisp with green apple highlights. A lovely balanced acidity gives this wine great length and a crisp finish.
As with many past vintages, cellaring potential is up to 10 years...if you can wait that long!
Awards and Accolades
BRONZE - Royal Adelaide Wine Show 2017
2016 Vintage: 92 Points, Special Value Wine - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "Shows some riper, almost tropical notes alongside the more typical aromas of lime and other citrus. Quite generously flavoured, with almost a hint of fruit sweetness, the line through the palate is nonetheless just as expected, with the firm hand of acidity and slatey texture a defining element. Drink now or cellar with the utmost confidence."
2015 Vintage: Wine of the year - ★★★★ ½ - Winestate Magazine
From the Winery
A wet winter and spring produced localised flooding in the Clare Valley in late September, this provided the region with plenty of sub surface moisture. Decent rains continued into vintage and coupled with mild temperatures, contributed to excellent fruit and in turn wine quality. Paulett Wines vintage started on Tuesday 7th March. Vintage start dates can be predicted by the date that Easter falls on. This held true for vintage 2017 which started approximately a month later than 2016. The Riesling flavour and yield has been very good, with the wet winter and cool spring creating excellent acid retention and varietal flavours. In summary, the vintage was later than we have seen over the past few years, but quality is the best that we have seen in recent times.
