This wine opens up with some very encouraging colour, a dense inky-purple with a perfumed nose displaying summer redcurrant, blackberry and chocolate and concentrated rich berry flavours. The palate is all upfront to begin and at once powerful, yet elegant with well-integrated fruit, some spicy French oak and fine-grained tannin to finish. The grapes for this Cabernet Sauvignon have been blended with Merlot and were picked and crushed during the cool of night, thus ensuring the retention of varietal characters, while modern winemaking techniques were employed throughout. Cold maceration of the fruit prior to fermentation helped to bring out colour and the wine’s primary varietal characters – such as blackcurrant and herbal fruit flavours. While still fermenting, the wine was transferred onto medium toast, French oak where it then spent several months, giving the wine a subtle smoke and spice character and adding a further dimension the overall style. The inclusion of some high quality central Victorian fruit in the blend has improved both the colour and flavour profiles of the wine.

Len Evans the Guru! Has produced this export wine to showcase regional quality and style.

Here lies a delightful Bordeaux type blend of mostly Cabernet and some wonderful finely textured tannins. Mature interlayered chocolate, plum and spice and oak all nestle gentley together to ensure a very good length to the palate. All those that tasted this little beauty were agog at how long the wine kept lasting in the mouth and truely a very serious wine.

Great to see such a balanced, attractive, clean Trinders - it's a label that's had something of a roller-coaster ride over the past six or seven years. This release is a strong one. Dusty, gravelly, herbal and yet ripe, with dry blackcurrant swinging through a fine mesh of tannin. It finishes clean and fruity, and will cellar for at least 10 years - but will be at its best in the medium term. Drink: 2006-2015. 91 points. Campbell Mattinson, The Winefront

** 5 Star James Halliday Winery rating **
Elegance rather than puch in this superb 'Reserve ' wine. Wonderful aromas of spearmint, blackcurrant and cinnamon abound.

Although 14% + alcohol this has delightful tannin structure and will reward the patience of any Cellar manager who gives this wine the head it deserves to build steam over the next 10 years.
Only: $37.40 (Incl. GST)
