Deep red with ruby hues. Exhibiting vibrant characteristic aromas of cassis, dark plummy fruits, and mocha entwined with hints of spicy, toasty oak.
The palate is packed full of juicy ripe forest fruits, with blackcurrant and chocolate characters. Medium to full bodied, fleshy fruits slot nicely into a structure supported by supple tannins, a solid acid backbone and a persistent finish.
Awards and Accolades
95 Points - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "87% Margaret River,13% Frankland River; 20% cold soak, 30% 28-day extended fermentation; 14 months in French barriques (20% new). This simply is one of the bargains of the year, a cabernet of verve, length, and delicious cassis fruit flavours built on a scaffold of balanced tannins."
2012 Vintage
94 Points - James Halliday Australian Wine Companion "Only Xanadu could made a cabernet as imposing as this as its entry point, with another three tiers above it. It is truly, ridiculously good, with blackcurrant fruit cosseted by integrated oak and fine-grained tannins on the long, perfectly balanced palate."
