This rich and ripe Heathcote Shiraz offers plum, cherry and blackcurrant flavours in abundance. These are kept in tow by rounded tannins and a solid structure. Balanced well throughout, this is great drinking in the short to medium term.
Awards and Accolades
2015 Vintage: 90 Points, Special Value Wine - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "Destemmed, wild yeast open-fermented, gentle plunging, matured in old barrels and stainless steel. The full-bodied palate is choc-full of ripe purple and black fruits (plum and blackberry at the front of the pack) and tannins oak immaterial. Henrietta is a 1971 Leyland tray truck, a fact gleaned only with assiduous reading the the comic book-style label."
From the Winery
The grapes were picked in late March when fruit was ripe and flavours were fully developed. In the winery the fruit was destemmed and wild fermented in open-top vessels with gentle plunging. Thewine was matured in old French oak barrels before being bottled in late 2017. A stelvin closure is used to seal the wine.
Henrietta was aged in old French barriques, resulting in a wine that shows beautiful purity of fruit. The nose is fresh and vibrant, with lifted notes of cherry and raspberry, supported by hints of violet, pepper and a touch of spice.
A firm acid line provides freshness on the palate and allows red fruit, spice and Henrietta’s typical richness to be carried by the wines elegant frame. This is a delicious Shiraz ready to drink now.
