I have grown to love Pinot Gris / Grigio as the often show style - Flavour and layers of perky, fleshy palate perfection. This wine is lush and clean at the same time giving the best Chardonnay lover a prefect example of Pinot Gris excellence.
Delatite have some how managed to take the crisp purity of the King Valley and Victorian Alpine region, and translate it into their wines. This Pinot Gris is a flawless example of this, clear and clean with aromatic pear and florals on the nose, with a smell I can only describe as clean alpine air. The palate is a refined blend of these elements, displaying second notes of oak toastiness with a nice dash of spice at the end. There’s a reason James Halliday gives this winery a consistent 5 star rating, and this very well may be it.
Awards and Accolades
2014 Vintage: 95 Points - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "Has all the indicia: a faint touch of pink-bronze, then a positive and appealing varietal expression, nashi pear to the fore, wisps of green apple behind the pear. All works well in a very good example of pinot gris."

From the Winery
Our Pinot Gris was picked over a period of six days with each block being picked at its optimum ripeness. The fruit was whole bunch pressed and then was allowed to undergo wild fermentation, with 50% of the juice being fermented in large Hungarian oak barrels (500L Puncheons). The wine was then left on its lees for a year with the barrels being stirred occasionally to help release the wild yeast characters from the dead yeast cells.
This Gris is full and round with the Hungarian oak giving the nose and palate warm vanillin notes that complement the ripe pear characters of the fruit. The finish is long and flavoursome. This wine has great complexity from the oak and fruit.
